How To Craft The Perfect Sentence, Part 29

by CWK

Craft Phrases. Instead of spending time arranging large blocks of material, try to focus on crafting single phrases.

I found over time that the hardest and most important work of a speaker or writer is the craftsmanship of phrases.

Thus, I needed to go over lines 20-30 times to get the accent just right, the wording just right, and the emphasis just right.

To come up with one single, delightful, memorable phrase is a gigantic accomplishment. An audience can appreciate excellent craftsmanship. They may not listen to a salesman, but they will listen to an artist.

So, work on phrases, instead of entire blocks of material.
